Set Up

 A set up is done generally when you get a new guitar or it’s been a while since any maintenance. Guitars generally don't like to sit in a closet a lone for years. If you haven't played an instrument in years, it probably needs a set-up.

Set up can also address problems like fret buzz.

Fretwork is needed when you hear buzzing or a dead spot (meaning you can't hear any notes) or due to damage. If there dents or worn down spots on a fret, it needs to be replaced.

Structural Repairs

Colorado is known for cracks in acoustic tops, which can be repaired. The repairs are not always 100% cosmetic, meaning you may see some remains of the crack, but structurally it will be fine. It usually takes about 3 or 4 days because the guitar need to be slowly humidified to take care of the crack. Generally if all that is needed is a repair with no cosmetic work, aprox $65

What's included in a setup?

Having a regular setup helps your guitar avoid long term problems and makes it easier to play comfortably.

Included in each set up:

  • Inspection for any problems
  • Check  / Adjust truss rod
  • Check / Adjust string action at nut
  • Check / Adjust string action at bridge
  • Check / Adjust intonation
  • Clean / Oil Fret board
  • Check / Dress fret ends
  • Light fret polish
  • Check hardware
  • Test electronics
  • Changes strings (optional for cost of strings)
  • Light clean and polish
